Back Pain, Neck Pain and Painful Shoulder

No matter what age and gender, back pain is one of the most common sufferings of our modern society. The whole spine from neck to the coccygeal bone ( tailbone ) can be affected. In younger, working patients the most frequent reason is physical inactivity and overloading of the spine and muscles by PC- based desk work, hours and hours of driving and heavy labour.

At this, acute and chronic blockage of the cervical, thoracal or lumbal spine and muscular dysbalances and stiffness occur, the chain of events can even result in spinal disc herniation. With advancing age deterioration and calcification additionally affect the spinal bones, which in turn lead to radiating pain to shoulders, hands and fingers, to legs, ancles and feet, often accompanied by numbness and paraesthesia.

Other reasons are sports injuries, sudden distorsions, scoliosis, rheumatic diseases, leg length inequality, and last but not least the so called „ Scheuermann`s desease „ which describes a precocious wear and deformation of the spine in the adolescence.

As there are so many different reasons of back pain, there are also different therapeutic approaches. Chirotherapy is a gentle, non-invasive therapeutic aproach to acute, recurrent and chronic blockages. It saves the patient from taking painkillers for long-term. A previous close exam is essential before your doctor will practice chirotherapy, if necessary also an x-ray or an MR imaging.

In case chirotherapy doesn’t help or should not be practiced on you, your doctor might recommend an injection and will also prescribe medication, suitable exercises and physiotherapy as well as an individual sports consultation.
